Description: 

This is the country report of Morocco. The country is currently experiencing a significant socioeconomic development which is causing an increase in the amount of waste produced. Thus, the quantities of waste products are as follows: • 5 million tons per year of household waste (in urban areas); • 1.5 million tons per year of industrial waste including 256,000 tons of hazardous waste; • 6,000 tons of medical and pharmaceutical waste. These waste products were often disposed of in uncontrolled dumps or in dark spots without any treatment or control, which had serious consequences on public health and the environment as well as the future of socioeconomic activities in the country.
